Examination Copies

The University of Notre Dame Press offers a diverse selection of texts suitable for course use. Qualified instructors are encouraged to request examination copies by writing to us on institutional letterhead and including course name, semester class will be taught, expected enrollment, instructor’s name, office phone number, and e-mail address. There is no charge for examination copies, however we do ask that you pay for shipping and handling. (No need to return the book after examining.)

In the U.S.: Paperbacks are available for a $6.00 shipping and handling fee per title (limit three titles per semester). Please include a check (in U.S. funds only) or money order with your request.

Outside the U.S.: Paperbacks are available for a $10.00 shipping and handling fee per title (limit three titles per semester). Please include a check (in U.S. funds only) or money order with your request.

Requests received without prepayment for postage and handling will be returned.

Hardcover examination copies are invoiced and shipped at a 20% academic discount. You have 90 days to review the text and either pay the invoice, return the book in resalable condition, or notify us that the book has been adopted. If the book is adopted and an order for 10 or more copies has been placed with your college bookstore, please fax a copy of the bookstore order along with a copy of your examination copy invoice to the University of Notre Dame Press at (574)631-4410. The Press will cancel the invoice and you may keep the examination copy as a desk copy. Send requests on institutional letterhead and include course name, semester class will be taught, projected enrollment, instructor’s name, office phone number, and e-mail address.

Desk Copy Policy

One free desk copy is provided when 10 or more copies of a text are purchased for course use. Please mail or fax desk copy requests on department letterhead and include course name, semester class will be taught, quantity ordered, bookstore placing order, instructor’s name, office phone number, and e-mail address on your request.
