Frederick B. Pike is Associate Professor (emeritus) of History at the University of Notre Dame. A specialist in Latin-American history, he spent the year 1959-1960 in Chile, doing research for this book. He also served as editor of the 1959 book on South America, Freedom and Reform in Latin America.
