Dear Irish Studies colleagues,
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new editor in charge of Irish studies at the University of Notre Dame Press. Since joining the Press last summer, I have been working closely with our Irish Studies publications program, and had been looking forward to meeting you all in Houston this April. I am disappointed that this will not be the case, but I am truly grateful for the hard work the ACIS organizers have put in and the grace with which they’ve handled an unfortunate situation.
In lieu of our exhibit at the conference this year, we have put together this virtual exhibit to showcase our offerings in the field. Our Irish Studies list is an important part of Notre Dame Press’s publications, and is one of the many avenues in which we work to contribute to the rich culture of the University of Notre Dame. As a Press, we have maintained our interest in publishing books in the social sciences, and in recent years we have expanded our offerings in Irish history and politics, ranging from the 18th century through the modern day. We are especially interested in early Irish American immigration history, which is a concentration we are continuing to develop. The nature of Irish politics from an international/transnational perspective is likewise a continued area of importance to our list, and we’re eager to see promising work in this vein.
If you are working in and of these areas, I would love to connect and chat about your work, discuss a book project, or look over proposals for monographs or general interest projects. Please feel free to send me a note at rkindler@nd.edu.
