“Progressivism” by Bradley C. S. Watson Named Finalist for Conservative Book of the Year Award

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) announced the finalists for the prestigious Conservative Book of the Year award on December 2, 2020. They named Bradley C. S. Watson’s Progressivism: The Strange History of a Radical Idea (University of Notre Dame Press, 2020) one of the six finalists. The award recognizes thoughtful books that contribute to the rich debate about important conservative ideas. The winner of the Conservative Book of the Year award will be announced in late January 2021 and will be honored at ISI’s annual Conservative Book of the Year award dinner on June 26 in Wilmington, Delaware. The winning author will receive ISI’s Paolucci Book Award, in addition to a $10,000 cash prize.

Progressivism presents an intellectual history of American progressivism as a philosophical-political phenomenon, focusing on how and with what consequences the academic discipline of history came to accept and propagate it. The book has been widely reviewed in the Claremont Review of BooksLaw and LibertyThe University BookmanVoegelinView, and Public Discourse.
