Notre Dame Press celebrates University Press Week with Book Festival, Author Events, Sale, and Blog Tour

This year, University Press Week is November 8–12, 2021. “Keep UP,” this year’s theme, marks the tenth anniversary of University Press Week and celebrates how university presses have evolved over the past decade.

The inaugural UP Week theme in 2012 was “Contributing to an Informed Society.” During the ten years since, the university press community has stayed true to this goal, keeping up the highest standards of scholarship and championing the power of ideas. As the world changes, so do university presses, adapting subject areas, author lists, and publishing know-how to grow into an ever more diverse, ever more global community. An informed society is as important as ever, and we are proud to honor the forward-thinking work that has made university presses leaders in their fields and a force to keep up with!

Notre Dame Press is pleased to share the following virtual and in-person UP Week initiatives with faculty, students, alumni, and friends of the university, and members of the local community:

UP WEEK GALLERY

The UP Week Gallery features 85 projects that illustrate how university presses around the world Keep UP with new ideas, subject areas, and authors’ voices. These books are all featured at Bookshop.org. Notre Dame Press selected Greg Bourke’s memoir Gay, Catholic, and American: My Legal Battle for Marriage Equality and Inclusion. Bourke and his husband, Michael De Leon, were named plaintiffs in the landmark United States Supreme Court decision Obergefell vs. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide in 2015.
