The University of Notre Dame Press is committed to fostering the next generation of scholars, thinkers, and writers. Our dedication to this mission is seen through our support of early career scholars and through our student mentorship and programs.
Notre Dame Press is looking forward to finalizing the launch of our First-Time Author Fund. First-time academic authors often lack the funding and support provided to tenured faculty and do not have an established network, making outreach and advertising more difficult. This new fund underwrites the publication and promotion of a first book by a promising scholar each year to ensure these important ideas and voices reach readers.
“Aside from their core mission to publish vital scholarship, university presses have always played a central role in academic professional development and advancement, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.”
—Director Steve Wrinn
Notre Dame Press needs just $1500 more to complete initial funding for the First-Time Author Fund. All gifts from the 2022 Notre Dame Day fundraising drive will support this effort.
We are also committed to fostering the next generation of Notre Dame students. Through our undergraduate student internships and participation in the College of Arts and Letters 5+1 Program for graduate students, we provide direct, hands-on career experience and mentorship.
We pride ourselves on providing real-world experience in acquisitions, editing, marketing, sales, design, business, and data management. Additionally, we strive to teach leadership and professional skills that will help them succeed in any future endeavors.
Beyond Notre Dame’s campus, our acquisitions staff works to prepare graduate students for future success, hosting numerous workshops and lectures exploring how to craft a proposal, how to choose and approach a publisher, and how to transform a dissertation into a book.
To make our books more accessible for research and use in the classroom, we also offer a Student Discount Program for graduate and undergraduate students. Participating students receive deep discounts on all Notre Dame Press books purchased on our website, along with updates on new books and special sales.
