AUPresses Book, Jacket, and Journal Show Comes to Notre Dame

As part of University Press Week, the University of Notre Dame Press will host the traveling exhibition of the 2022 Association of University Presses (AUPresses) Book, Jacket, and Journal Show in the Hesburgh Library Concourse on November 14–18, 2022. The annual juried show, now in its 57th year, honors the university publishing community’s design and production professionals. The Association recognizes achievement in design, production, and manufacturing of books, jackets, covers, and journals, and the Show serves as a spark to conversations and as a source of ideas about intelligent, creative, and resourceful publishing.

From the nearly 500 books and covers submitted for the competition this year, just 91 were selected as winners in the following categories:

  • Scholarly illustrated books
  • Trade typographic books
  • Trade illustrated books
  • Poetry and literature books
  • Reference books
  • Journals
  • Jackets and covers (of books and journals)

The AUPresses Book, Jacket, and Journal Show coincides with the Notre Dame Press Book Festival. The Book Festival will run from 10am to 6pm on November 15 and 16 in the Hesburgh Library Concourse with sales and giveaways offered throughout the event. As a part of the festival, Notre Dame Press will host two events: “The Ins and Outs of Academic Publishing” on November 15 and “David Bentley Hart on Grace with Jennifer Newsome Martin,” co-hosted with the Theology Department, on November 16. Both events will take place in the Hesburgh Library Scholars Lounge from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

For those interested in publishing, literature, history of the book, and design, November at the University of Notre Dame is not a month to miss! All events are free and open to the public.
