Foreword Reviews recently announced the winners of the 2023 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards. These awards recognize outstanding books from independent and university presses, as well as self-published books. Victoria Sutherland, Foreword Reviews‘s founder and publisher, said the following glowing words about this year’s competition: “The days leading up to our INDIES announcement are an annual highlight for our team. It is so very satisfying to see the winning votes come in from our Finalist judging team of booksellers and librarians. Their enthusiasm for the process of discovering the most notable titles is so rewarding for us, and such a pleasure to share with our readers.”
We are excited to announce that, among this pool of fantastic books, Touch the Wounds received a Silver Medal in Religion!
One of the most important voices in contemporary Catholicism, Tomáš Halík argues that Christians can discover the clearest vision of God not by turning away from suffering but by confronting it. Halík calls upon us to follow the apostle Thomas’s example: to see the pain, suffering, and poverty of our world and to touch those wounds with faith and action. It is those expressions of love and service that restore our hope and the courage to live, allowing true holiness to manifest itself.
